wool batting for kitchen reno

We had to use electric sheep shears to cut the insulation easily without compressing it. The insulation knife just didn't cut it. Even though it has a tiny amount of polyester I truly enjoy the quality of the insulation. It is warm and fuzzy and definitely has sound abatement. I hope that it will transfer moisture seamlessly without causing rot as we chose not to use any form of plastic vapor barrier in our 200+ year old house whose hand hewn beams are still intact without previous vapor barrier. I tried burning the wool and it just went out! Overall an excellent product as we were able to borrow the shears and then it installed beautifully without toxicity.

Insulation for an attached garage

In our older house in the cool and rainy Pacific NW there was no insulation in the wall shared with our single car attached garage. I wasn't looking forward to working with fiberglass, mineral wool or foam as an elderly do-it-yourselfer on an unfamiliar project. The wool batts were a pleasure to work with despite the many framing members that weren't on 16 or 24 inch centers. I would make the same choice again if I needed to despite the cost of shipping

Basement insulation project

Unable to get an insulation blower from Havelock due to none in stock. So I converted my sawdust vacuum system into a blower. Took a little bit of metal fabrication to make an exhaust port but it worked well. Blowing in the insulation was a slow process in our basement ceiling. It was because of the pipes, wires, and ductwork made it difficult to see and get the hose all the way to the end of the stud bay. The blown insulation really expands as it is applied and so we had more insulation left over for our attic project - I calculated that we got twice as much coverage from each bale than predicted. No itching was great too!

Not much of an expert but...

this worked out great for me. I have had minimal exposure to fiberglass insulation and this is SO MUCH better to work with. I highly recommend.
